Here we attempt to explain the significance that ART has in the investments scenario and why it is arguably a ‘better’ form of investment than many other more common investments. This includes whether the investor is searching for a quick-profit return or longer-term profit return and therefore a much larger return. | |||

Below is an outline using questions and answers regarding why people should look to invest in ART rather than other more common investments.
Question: Why do the rich invest in ART? Answer: Because they can afford to do so. Question: Mmmh, but why ART? Answer: ART possesses an intrinsic value derived from human experience that is commonly recognized among those possessing the wealth to appreciate and obtain it. Question: What makes the work of an individual artist valuable? Answer: Recognition of their work by those who appreciate such things i.e. that it captures an elusive essence possessing a quality of manufacture that is itself exclusive. |

SHORT-TERM investment
To invest in ART as a short-term investment likely to prove more financially beneficial than other common forms of investment can work very well when the artist in question is one acknowledged as developing a style that attracts collectors.
This occurs when ART as a mechanism used to reflect human endeavour at any given period is recognized as such, since ART is almost without choice a historical record, no matter what the object mirrored by the artist might be e.g. a bowl of fruit will usually reflect the fruit common at a period of time, the type of preferred pottery and occasionally the surroundings in which the bowl sits. The paints used, the utensils adopted to create the artwork all relate to the value of the piece in question. These and other reasons help make such art unique and prompt peers and collectors to recognize the criteria they expect to find that automatically increases its value.
Common short-term investment schemes are designed to require a large initial investment in order to produce substantial investment increases in a short turnaround period and thereby grant the investor anything from around 200-300% profit. However, investment in a developing artist can easily mirror such profits and even better them overnight. Additionally investing in an individual with a recognized talent for ART supports not simply the financial stake of colleague investors in the artist but also provides the artist with the means to develop and grow and thereby increase their potential. Supporting an artist by purchasing their art is a recognized method adopted by the wealthy to increase the value of their artistic investments. |

LONG-TERM investment
Invest in ART for a long-term investment that will prove a better risk than other more common investments. Long-term investment risks are designed to require small amounts of capital that will eventually grow towards an anticipated bonus. However today these small capital investments are becoming significantly affected by the introduction of ever evolving technologies which makes it reasonable to suggest that many investment schemes today either fail to reflect or simply cannot anticipate how technology will impact on the more common investment plans. For that reason it is wise for investors to pursue investments that remain untouched by technology, and ART is one of those pockets of investment that will continue to offer investors an arena in which technology plays little in the significance of its continued development from the perspective of an artist. And that is where real investment lies, because the purchase of a painting by an artist possessing recognized talent is a realization that to do so is beneficial to both the investor and artist. An investment in art is a loop investment, one that returns a profit to both the artist and investor that a changing technological environment has little control over.
Why invest in the art of Graham Catney?
Graham Catney is an artist in Northern Ireland with an acknowledged talent and reputation. The BBC thought sufficiently of Graham to produce a television programme dedicated to his work. It is quite possible that Graham will become recognized as one of the most prominent Irish artists of the early 21st Century. Certainly the value of his work has increased considerably over the years in line with the development of his talent.
As an investor anticipating the increasing value of Graham’s art is not rocket science but simply recognition of his personal development and talent.
